HOW IT STARTED

The Story

Smiths Grove Physical Therapy was the vision of Dr. Pravin Avula and physical therapist Jeremy Schafer. They believed the people in and surrounding Smiths Grove would have better and faster access to physical therapy services if it was in their own community. Jeremy renovated Dr. Avula’s former office building and opened the physical therapy clinic in 2008. Patients said they appreciated the convenience of not having to drive to Bowling Green or Glasgow, the continuity of care, the personal attention and the friendly community atmosphere the small clinic provided. Word-of-mouth grew the clinic from operating three days a week to five. Jeremy hired a full-time therapist to run the growing clinic as he turned his focus toward his specialty of electromyography.

Now, full-time physical therapist Paige Carnes, an Edmonson County and WKU graduate, runs the clinic. She provides post-operative care, spine care, pain management, vestibular rehabilitation, sports-specific therapy, post-stroke care, balance restoration, programs for deconditioning, joint manipulation and many other physical therapy services. She is also certified in providing dry needling. She works alongside office managers Anita Grinstead and Denise Davis in providing the best care and experience for each patient. They all maintain a great working relationship with Dr. Avula’s office and staff, among other practices.
